The many benefits of Tai Chi Chuan have been reported in health
magazines as well as TV specials. Our Tai Chi teacher hears every
week how his students have improved their balance, reduced dependency on
pain medications, even lowered their blood pressure so they can reduce
or eliminate medication they have been taking for years -- often
within a only few months of beginning a regular Tai Chi practice.

Mondays and Wednesdays
5:30 - 7PMand Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:30PM and enjoy your own health benefits. This class is appropriate for
Mondays 6-7pm -- Hatha Yoga class taught by
based on Power Yoga with a good variety of poses, movements and
stretching. Always gong/crystal bowl relaxation.
Tuesdays 6-7pm-- Yin Yoga
taught by Michele. Poses (primarily passive/relaxed stretching
poses) are held for longer – 3 minutes minimum, and blankets, bolsters
and blocks are commonly used to support you in your practice. Yin Yoga
is suitable for all levels of experience. (See Saturday just below for
more information about Yin Yoga)
Wednesdays 5:45 - 6:45pm is Core Strengthening taught by
Pamela, and can include
some Pilates, large ball, hula hoops, Yoga Core -- always stretching and
Thursday 6-7pm Gentle Vinyasa
taught by Michele. A restful, calming class
including breathing, gentle flowing movements, passive and supported
poses. This is a great alternative and complimentary practice class for
those whose regular fitness routine is challenging, and is a perfect
beginning Yoga class that is also appropriate for those working with
injury, limited mobility, or who prefer a softer, gentler approach to
Saturday 10-11am Yin Yoga (Pamela) What
is Yin Yoga? Unlike other Yoga, Yin Yoga stretches are done with cold
muscles. When the muscles are warmed up, the muscles "take the stress"
of the stretch. When they are cold, and you move slowly into then hold
the pose, the stretch is passed on to the connective tissues
(tendons/ligaments) and fascia giving you a deep release in areas not
usually reaches with the conventional stretching.
It is a great balancing practice for your flow/core/hatha style of Yoga,
or for anyone experiencing tight joints and muscles. Yin Yoga works
deeply, targeting the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, around
bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not targeted as
much in a more active style of Yoga practice. And most classes focus
primarily on the hips, pelvis and lower spine, but shoulders, neck and
upper back are also stretched sometimes.
Poses (primarily passive/relaxed stretching poses) are held for longer
-- 3 minutes minimum, and blankets, bolsters and blocks are commonly
used to support you in your practice.
Yin yoga is suitable for all levels of experience. Many students have
experienced relief from hip or back pain from just one class.
